Blog + Life Updates

05/10/2017

Hi everyone! It’s been a while.

I’m not going to lie: this past month has been a doozy for me. I lost interest in a lot of my hobbies. I hadn’t planned in my planner for more than a month. My nails were left bare for FOUR DAYS. I didn’t do my makeup besides the minimum to look decent. It was rough.

I hate that I let my blog go to the wayside. But even thinking of going through the grind of taking pictures, editing them, writing up posts and scheduling out social media felt like a chore. I was hard pressed to think of ideas and my motivation was gone.

But this past week, I started planning again. I took out my planner, set up my stickers and post-planned the week I saw The Maine twice and my friend Michele visited. Of course it was The Maine that got me into my groove again.

Then something great happened. I was watching a Plan With Me from Kayla (Microscope Beauty/Oh, Hello Stationery Co.) and I felt inspired to open WordPress and write how I felt. So here’s that post.

Blogging was once my priority, but I let that get to the bottom of my list of favorite things to do. But now that I’m writing again, I’m not going to force it. All I want is to be writing again. I miss it dearly.

So, here are the three things I’m doing to get myself motivated again:

  1. Not Forcing Posts
I’m not going to force myself to get a set number of posts out each week. If I don’t get 3 posts out every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, that’s ok! If I only post once a week, that’s alright! I’m not even going to force myself to get certain posts up like reviews or favorites. If I feel like writing about it, that’s what I’m going to do.
  2. Writing About Other Topics
Something that I think about a lot is writing about other topics. While beauty, nails and planning remain some of favorite things to do and write about, I have other interests, too! I want to write about my new vinyl hobby and about other loves like TV. Maybe I’ll write a opinion piece! Who knows. I want to call these Rebel Posts and I’ll make sure to label these posts as so. I don’t want these to be the main focus of my blog or overtake beauty posts, but if they help my blog regularly again, then so be it.
  3. HAVE FUN!
For a while I was taking blogging really seriously and I wasn’t having fun at all. I was too worried about SEO and the perfect edited picture to focus on what made me blog in the first place: sharing my interests. I have to get back to that!

Thank you to everyone who has been reading my blog in the mean time. I’ve had consistent views even though I haven’t posted in a month. Thanks for being the best.
