I’ve been kind of in a nail art funk lately. It’s like nothing that I create looks good anymore. I’ll try to attempt some cool nail art, but it never looks right. So I took a break from nail art for a while and stepped back in when I felt like my nails were looking a little boring. I took a look through my stamping plates and noticed that I still hadn’t used the MoYou London Tumblr Girl plate that I bought back in September. It’s a collection filled with cool images that are just so Tumblr-esque. I was inspired by the colors on the plate’s sleeve and created this pastel nail art! Check out how I used the plate down below!
MoYou London Tumblr Girl 02 is a plate filled with cool-girl designs. That’s really the best way I can explain it! Usually I opt for the smaller designs with MoYou London since they fit my nails, but this time I went with the larger images. I’m glad I did! As you can see above, the wording gave me a cooler effect being larger.
I wanted to match the color that were on the sleeve of the plate. The colors are very pastel-goth and make me happy to look at. All the different doodles and icons on the sleeve are so great. I wish that I had all of those on the plates! For my base colors I used Deborah Lippmann My Boy Lollipop, All Day Sucker and Candy Girl from the Sweets for My Sweet set. For the stamping colors I used MoYou London Beach House and Purple Punch, as well as Bundle Monster Straight Up Black. I used the MoYou London Crystal Clear stamper as well.
The Deborah Lippmann Sweets for My Sweet set isn’t very well loved because the formulas aren’t the best, but I love the colors. They are the most crisp and bright pastels I’ve ever used. Plus, when have pastels ever been easy to work with? I painted two coats of each color, alternating each nails with a different color. I let those dry and applied a layer of Glisten & Glow CTRL + ALT + DEL liquid latex barrier around my nails. That’s my favorite liquid latex because it’s thicker than others and doesn’t have as harsh of a smell.
I didn’t want to do all of the nails in the same stamping color because I want this nail art to be interesting. So I picked random nails to get the different colors. I didn’t want to think about what nails got what color, just that the purple nails didn’t get purple and the blue nails didn’t get blue.
I wanted a mixed texture look, so I applied a silver heart nail stud to the middle fingers. It made the nail art more interesting.
After the stamping dried I applied my top coat and cleaned up.
And that’s my look using the MoYou London Tumblr Girl plate! What do you think? Let me know down below!
