Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara Review | The Rebel Planner

It’s been a while since I’ve done a makeup review, and after including the Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara in my November favorites I thought I would do a review since I haven’t seen any! I picked up this mascara when Influenster had a coupon for it, but unfortunately I forgot my coupon at home. Either way, I’m glad to have this mascara. Check out what I think of it down below!

The Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara ($9.99; Target) is the first mascara from Max Factor to be released in North America. Max Factor used to be sold in America, but then it was taken off the market. However, Max Factor is back with a small initial release of lipstick, mascara and an eyeliner.

According to Target, the mascara is described as “a high impact volumising mascara that creates bold, smooth, sleek lashes with up to four times your bare lash volume. Smudge proof and touch proof for all day confidence. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.” It’s supposed to be clump-proof as well.

The wand is a normal length with medium sized spikes that taper towards the top. The wand is also plastic. My wand came a little bent. I’m not sure if that’s how the mascara is supposed to look like, but I’m glad that is has a slight bend. That makes it easier to apply the mascara to my lower lashes without smearing the mascara everywhere.

The main thing that I love about this mascara is that it holds my curl all day unlike any other mascara has done. Usually I curl my lashes in the morning and after an hour my lashes have drooped and become straight. However, this mascara keeps my curl strong all day. And this isn’t even the waterproof version! This also removes easily with normal eye makeup remover.

Although right on the packaging it says “high volume,” I mostly get length from this mascara. My abnormally long lashes become spider-like from this mascara. And because this holds a curl incredibly well, my lashes look insane.

This is with two coats of Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara.

As you can see, my lashes are very long using this mascara. In person they look even longer and quite frankly, scarier. And that claim about it being clump-proof? No. My lashes clumped together with this mascara and I had to go in with a lash comb to separate the best I could. I find that lighter coats are best to assure that it won’t clump up.

I wore this throughout a nine hour shift and my mascara didn’t flake, smudge or smear, even when I accidentally rubbed my eye. This also didn’t irritate my sensitive eyes or scratch my contact lenses.

Overall, I say this mascara is worth picking up if you want a lengthening or curl-holding formula. If you’re looking for volumizing, this ain’t it. I give it a 4/5.

You can pick up The Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara at Target for $9.99.
