For most people winter means berry reds and dark purples. But not for me! While reds do make an appearance during the holiday season, I mostly wear nudes, grays and berries in the winter. Today I’m sharing my top 5 lipsticks for winter. Check them out!
- NYX Macaron Lipstick in Black Sesame
Any gray works for winter, but my go-to is this NYX lipstick. It’s comfortable on the lips, slides on easily and doesn’t make me look completely dead. I think most people are terrified of gray because they are afraid to look like a zombie, but don’t be! Just make sure to go warm on the eyes. Another great pick is OCC Sebastian lip tar. The gray matches the weather and the clouds and I think that’s why I love it so much. - MAC Captive
This berry-toned mauve is gorgeous for winter. Fall to me is about berries like MAC Rebel. Winter to me means mauves. I’m scared of mauves and brick-reds because they often wash me out. It’s a super huge trend right now though, so if you’re scared of muted reds, give Captive a try. - Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Namaste
I got this little sample size in a Sephora nude lipstick sampler and I’m glad I gave it a chance. It’s a matte nude lipstick with a neutral undertone. It’s so hard to find a neutral-toned nude lipstick, but somehow this one doesn’t lean too cool or too warm. I love this for winter because it works well with dark smoky eyes or with purples. I go darker with my eyeshadow in the winter and nude lipsticks go perfectly with dark eye looks. Namaste lasts a while on the lips without drying them out. - Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Rock Steady
Although this particular packaging is from the Gwen Stefani collection, Rock Steady is a permanent shade. This is the perfect red for any holiday party. It’s a blue-based red so it makes your smile look whiter and it has a glossy finish that lasts on the lips. You can also re-apply it without it looking crusty or uneven. I would wear a lip liner with this one, though. It does bleed a bit. My favorite is ColourPop Bichette Lippie Stix. - OCC Black Metal Dahlia
This is the most sparkly, beautiful dark red/purple. The glitter doesn’t feel super gritty and it has a sparkle that is beautiful for the holidays. I have the old packaging that comes in a squeeze tube but the new packaging is in a easy-to-apply lipgloss packaging. If straight-up reds aren’t your thing, check out Black Metal Dahlia.
