It’s been a while since I’ve had a new post! If you don’t keep up with me on my social media (which you totally should,) I’ve been busy moving for the past two weeks. It’s been nothing but packing, unpacking, brown boxes and very little time to sit and blog. But here I am!
Today I’ve got a review on the Fortune Cookie Soap Box Through the Wardrobe collection. While I try to get these reviews up before the collection goes live, this release got the best of me. But there’s no harm in doing a late review!
The Fortune Cookie Soap Box comes with eight products, some full-sized and some are miniature versions. The Soap Box comes out quarterly before each season and costs $19.95 USD, which includes shipping. Each box also includes a $10 store credit that can be used towards a full-sized product from the collection or at any other time. I love that they do that! Most of the products are around $10-$12, so the coupon is helpful.
What I like about the Fortune Cookie Soap Box is that it lets you test out all of the scents before the full collection comes out. It also allows you to try out products you normally wouldn’t think to buy.
I’ll put the name of the product in bold followed by the description FCS gives on the card that is included.
Always Winter OCD Hand Sanitizer: Always winter, but never Christmas for those germs! This OCD Hand Sanitizer will keep the germs frozen away with holiday notes of evergreen fir needles, warm cinnamon, crisp cranberries, apple curls and cedarwood.
This smells exactly like a Christmas tree without being completely overwhelming. I love that this has glitter in it, too. The glitter usually rubs off after a minute or so.
Father Christmas Whipped Cream: He’s come at last! The witch may have kept him out for a long time, but our Whipped Cream has come at long last – with a chilly blast of winter air blowing through blue juniper brush, dusted with frosty snow and hints of iced vanilla cupcakes.
The Whipped Creams are usually what I look forward to the most in these boxes and this is no exception. This mostly smells like the “frosty snow” and mint with some sort of sweetness that isn’t quite vanilla cupcakes. It’s definitely a strong smell, but it’ll be nice once the air gets a little more chilly.
Sweeties Fortune Cookie Soap: Don’t even try to resist the candied sweetness of Turkish Delight with this Fortune Cookie Soap. Scented with traditional rosewater and toasted pistachios, amaretto and warm, buttery cookies, it will leave you asking the witch for more. Just remember, a little goes a long way!
To me this smells like cherry cough syrup and no much else. I don’t get any hint of buttery cookies or pistachios. I mostly get the amaretto and fake-cherry scent. However, I love the design of the soap, though. The powder makes it look like it’s been coated in a fresh layer of dusty snow.
Dream of a Dream Dusting Powder: Step put of the shower and into a new world with our brand new dusting powder! A comforting and soothing blend of lavender, vanilla, soft musk and patchouli will brush your skin with the softness of pleasant dream. Microfine powder and clays absorb sweat and smooth your skin while the essential oils keep you feeling fresh all day.
I love dusting powders so seeing this in the box got me excited! Anything with patchouli in it gives me headaches so I’ll be passing this one on, but the scent really is lovely. The patchouli is kind of strong, but the lavender and vanilla mellow it out.
Lion’s Breath Perfume Oil: Wrong will be right when this perfume oil comes in sight. Be rejuvenated by the true King himself with fresh and invigorating scents of glistening winter frost and fir needles dripping with the sweet nectar of ripened pomegranates. Your senses will feel alive again as every last drop of this perfume oil graces your skin!
Just like the perfume from the spring box, this oil is sweet and light. But it works for winter with the lingering scent of the fir needles. I mostly get the pomegranates and the fir needles. I wore this and smelt like a Christmas tree!
As always, I have a problem with the inconsistency of the sizes of the perfume oils. Sometimes we get large vials like the one in this box and other times we get small vials like in the fall box. I wish FCS would choose a size and stick to it!
Hide and Seek Whipped Soap: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, are you hiding yet or seeking marshmallowy, soft whipped soap? Chase after the scent of decadent blends of dark chocolate covered espresso beans, allspice and a light coconut cream. Who said anyone was too old for a game of hide and seek? Whipped to fluffy perfection, use our whipped soap as a shaving cream or an all-over body wash.
This definitely smells like a coconut cupcake or something. It’s delicious! This is going to be yummy as a Whipped Cream.
So when I got a whipped soap in a box two years ago I had no idea how to use it. Do I use it as hand soap? Why is it whipped? I kept it on a shelf until a few weeks ago when I finally used it up. Let me tell you: this is the best shaving cream I have ever used. It made me shave so close, smooth and soft. I’m excited to have another!
Deep Magic Shampoo Bar: There is a magic deeper still that goes back before the dawn of time. This shampoo bar will restore your hair to life with a revitalizing blend of rosemary, fresh garden herbs and revitalizing mint. Even the witch’s magic couldn’t keep those dead-ends dead for good!
This smells like straight-up mint. No other notes. Just mint.
Small Favors Pedi-Bomb: It doesn’t take a lot to unwind and relax, only warm honey with a hint of the Professor’s tobacco pop, brightened by spiced citrus slices. This pedi-bomb will have you thankful for small favors!
This smells mostly like tobacco and something musky. This would make a great perfume oil if you like musky scents. This would salon make an excellent room spray for men!
I’m kind of disappointed with this collection. It seems like I never truly love the winter boxes and this, unfortunately, follows that tradition. I love the wintery, icy, Christmas tree scents, but I’m never a fan of musky or heavy scents and this box has a lot of that. If you like heavy scents this collection is for you. My favorite scents are Lion’s Breath, Always Winter and Hide and Seek.
I think my favorite Fortune Cookie Soap Box of the year is the spring box. While some of the scents weren’t my favorite, that perfume oil was my absolute favorite. It’s the one I think of the most. What was the summer theme anyway? I honestly can’t remember. Fall was good, but not my favorite.
The collection went on sale Friday, November 11 at 6 p.m. CST. FCS usually hosts a Facebook live even where they give away full-sized products from the collection and share a 20% off coupon for those who are ordering a lot or don’t get the box. The code is only valid for a little while, so you don’t want to miss it! The collection already went on sale but is still available at the time of this post.
