September Favorites | The Rebel Planner

Usually I like to post my favorites and empties at the end of the month, but September got the best of me. Although I didn’t wear a ton of makeup this month, I had some standout favorites that made the few times I did wear makeup easier. I also tried out a lot of NYX products, so it’s no surprise that most of my favorites are NYX products!

  1. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen
My friend Kiku gave me this lipstick is a swap we did a few months back and I’ve been in love ever since. This berry-red color is perfect for fall and amps up any look that I’ve done. This color pairs perfect with a simple winged liner and berry blush – my go-to look lately. I was never a fan of the soft matte creams when I tried them previously, but I guess the formula changed or my preferences changed because this formula is perfect. It dries down to a… soft matte… and feels almost invisible on the lips. Although it does dry down matte, it doesn’t stay on the lips like traditional liquid lipsticks do. This is also so easy to apply. The formula is like a mousse and doesn’t drip during application or stray from lip lines. I love this and can’t wait to get more colors!
  2. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Jungle Gem
When I went to visit my friends to see Young the Giant, my friend Kim took out this color and instantly fell in love. While I typically gravitate towards teal and turquoise colors, this one called out to me on a different level. I painted my nail for that concert and didn’t take the color off until I bought a bottle for myself. I’m usually not a fan of Sally Hansen, but once again a friend has convinced me otherwise.
  3. LUSH Tooth Fairy Tooth Powder
Again, this was given to me in the swap with Kiku. This loose powder is meant to replace your regular toothpaste. I was so intrigued by this stuff and I’m so glad I got it. To use it you just wet your toothbrush, dip it into the powder and brush your teeth. It was a strange feeling at first, but in seconds the powder turns into a bubbly foam that gets my teeth as clean as traditional toothpaste does. And the bonus? It tastes like strawberry lemonade! It’s subtle, but it’s nice in the morning to wake me up and a sweet little treat at night.
  4. NYX Tinted Brow Mascara
I’ve always wanted to try the Benefit Gimme-Brow, but it’s too expensive for me to make the purchase. I’ve also always seen the NYX version but never bought it. But once the NYX store opened up in my mall I knew it was time to finally buy it. While the brush is much bigger than the Benefit brush, this tinted brow mascara does the same thing. It fills in my brows and gives a tint. It’s so much faster than filling them in with a pencil and when I’m in a rush, this is what I reach for.
  5. NYX Pro Crease Brush
I like to try out new brushes and when I saw NYX had some in their store I bought this one. It’s more tapered than other crease brushes I’ve tried before and I really like that about this one. The hairs are dense enough where I can apply color but also fluffy enough to do light blending. I want to pick up a few more of these!

And those are my favorites for the month. NYX really took over this month, didn’t they? What was your favorite product of the month? Let me know in the comments!
