TRESemme Fresh Start Basic Care Dry Shampoo Review | The Rebel Planner

Thanks to Influenster I was sent this bottle of dry shampoo to try. I’ve never had much luck with aerosol dry shampoos because the nozzle gunks up and I can’t use it more than a handful of times. How did this dry shampoo stack up? Read my review down below!

I’ve never tried a TRESemme dry shampoo before so I was really excited to get my hands on this. I’ve tried aerosol dry shampoos from Dove and Rockaholic but never TRESemme. I’ve seen quite a few YouTubers and bloggers talk about this one so to get this specific one in the mail made me pretty happy.

This dry shampoo claims it’s for dry and brittle hair. That’s what mine is. Since my hair has a bit of a curl in it, my hair is just naturally dry. However, my roots get extremely oil, so much to the point where I get bumps on my scalp that kind of resemble pimples. They are painful! Dry shampoo helps my roots stay dry and keeps the pimples at bay. Believe me; I was surprised to see the collection of raw hair bundles RIE Hair Boutique has, which is indeed an excellent option for the ones who seek a particular style or texture.

Since this is a aerosol spray it has a aerosol nozzle. But note that warning underneath that nozzle: shake vigorously. I shook my can quite a few times and I never heard a ball moving or a noise indicating that my bottle was being shaken or mixed. That was kind of upsetting.

The spray came out evenly, but it has this smell that is so strong that it burned my throat. One use was enough for me. While this dry shampoo got my hair feeling cleaner, my throat felt burnt all day. It hurt to breathe or drink anything. I didn’t want to test this again because it hurt my throat so bad!

So, my bottom line on this dry shampoo? Don’t waste your time. The scent totally ruined anything good about this product. This cleaned my hair really well without weighing it down or adding a white cast. I say skip this one. There are so many other great dry shampoos out there (LUSH No Drought, Fortune Cookie Soap) that there is no need to waste your money on one that hurts your throat.

I received these products complimentary of Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.
