SweetBaby by Donna is one of the first brands of indie cuticle oil that I’ve tried. It’s also the first nail oil to completely transform my nails. I went from short, peeling nails that would break multiple times a week to strong and long nails that are thicker than ever. When I saw that SweetBaby by Donna was offering a limited edition scent, I had to have it. Check out my review below of the Jammie Dodger limited edition scent from SweetBaby by Donna!
Jammie Dodger is one of the limited edition scents that Etsy shop SweetBaby by Donna offers from time-to-time. Usually these limited edition scents are offered for pre-sale and then are shipped out a few weeks later. I ordered mine on Feb. 5, the package shipped Feb. 21 and the package arrived Feb. 26. I wasn’t expecting for the order to be shipped until March, so I was pleased to get it at an earlier time.
Here is how the brand describes the scent:
Jammie Dodger is a delicious creamy raspberry fragranced scent. This aptly named scent was named by a friend when I shared it with her. As soon as she smelled it she thought of the british biscuits that are called Jammie Dodgers.
I definitely smell the raspberry mixed with vanilla and some perfume. Some friends have described it as smelling like bubble gum, perfume or a strawberry Starbursts. I can see where they’re coming from! The smell is delicious and intoxicating. I find myself sniffing my hands after I apply these products, and the two products together is irresistible. I look strange, but I can’t help it.
Here are the ingredients:
Avocado Butter, Shea Butter, Jojoba Wax Ester, Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Moroccan Argan Oil, Vitamin E, Essential Oil, Fragrance in some.
Notice how almond oil is missing. I get red and itchy when I use anything with almond oil in it, and the fact that the oil was missing is what drew me to the brand.
The Oil Pen comes with 2 mL of product in a clicker brush-style pen. This pen is great for travel since it is so slim and easy to apply on the go. I find these clicker pens usually last me anywhere between two and three weeks, depending on how often I use it. It doesn’t leak in my bag at all. The scent is strong on this but not enough to give me a headache. I wish I had ordered the 11 mL rollerball though. This oil is too good and this scent is too wonderful.
The Nourishing Butter came in two sizes for this launch: the normal 1 oz jar and this .33 oz sample size. This sample size is a incredibly generous size. I can sense this sample lasting me months. I initially thought that with this snap-on packaging that the lid would pop off in my bag. However, the lid snaps on tightly and hasn’t come off in my bag. The only thing I’m not too fond of is that the butter is kind of gritty. I know that’s it’s just some of the oils congealing and it doesn’t mean the butter has gone bad, but it’s gritty and a little hard to fully rub in. What I like, however, is that this butter contains jojoba wax ester. My other cuticle butters don’t so it’s nice to have that extra jojoba wax ester to strengthen my nails. This sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave my nails greasy. Because it sinks in so quickly, it sometimes feels like I haven’t applied anything at all.
In all, I’m extremely happy with my order. The scent is delectable and the butter really softens my nails. I know that this scent was limited edition, but I hope that the shop will consider making it a permanent scent. Other scents I’ve tried from the brand include Get Your Happy On, Zenergy and Fresh Apple. Out of those three, Zenergy was my favorite and I highly recommend that one when it is in stock.
The cuticle oil was $6 and the butter was $5.50. To buy SweetBaby by Donna, click here.
