2015 was an awesome year for makeup. I tried out so many different products and learned to love some old favorites. Check out my 2015 Makeup Favorites below!
Although I bought my Makeup Geek Eyeshadows back in 2014, this year was the year I got a lot of use out of them. The pressed eyeshadows are smooth, pigmented and blend easily. I need no effort to make these shadows look good and to create a cohesive look. My favorites are Barcelona Beach, Peacock and Bling. I just hope the brand comes out with a dupe for Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow!
Like the eyeshadows, I’ve been using the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation for a while, but got the most use out of it this year. It looks incredibly natural when blended out with a sponge, not a brush. When I wear this foundation, people tell me my skin looks amazing. I can’t complain about that! My freckles still stand out but my face is evened out.
I’ve never been a fan of CoverGirl makeup. No matter what I try, nothing looks good or lasts more than an hour. But this CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Primer does an amazing job keeping my foundation in place all day without fading, creasing into lines or making my skin too matte or dewey. It even fills in some pores. My love for this primer makes me want to try out this brand again. (Leave me suggestions down below!)
The NYX Micro Brow Pencil is a dead-on dupe for the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz. The pencil is retractable and comes with a spoolie on the other end to comb through the brow hairs. It applies product smoothly, blends out nicely but never looks overdone. I like that because the pencil is so skinny, I can draw on individual hairs and get a crisp line when I want a more defined brow.
2015 was the year of lip gloss for me. When I had long hair, I never wore lip gloss because I hated the way my hair would stick to my lips. But now that I have a pixie cut, I was able to explore a world in lip gloss that I never did before. MAC Lipglass became my favorite lip gloss line. The glosses are shiny and thick, and the sparkle in MAC Lip Glass in Domestic Diva makes my lips look bigger than they are.
MAC Blanc Type isn’t anything special, but I’ve been looking for a matte highlight forever and could never find anything that was light enough… and not stark white. I use this to blend out shadow that got a little too crazy as well as a highlight under the brow. This is really pigmented too! It doesn’t look like it, but I’ve made a decent dent in this shadow.
And what would a 2015 year-end list be without liquid lipstick? Liquid lipsticks took the makeup industry by storm. Every brand seems to have a version of liquid lipsticks, and they’re all so different! But I’ve narrowed down my favorites. Milani Amore Lip Cream in Flirt is very thin but stays on the lips forever. The ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless is a gorgeous pale pink that reminds me of the 90s. However, my favorite liquid lipstick is from a brand that I dare not name in fear of being chastised. They make the best liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried! But I am trying to branch out and try others.
And that’s it! My makeup goals for 2016 is to wear more bright and colorful eyeshadow. I feel like I took a step back from that in 2015 and I felt very blah most of the year. Time to bring back the color!
What were your favorite makeup items of 2015? Let me know down below!

Hi! Hope you’re having a good new year 🙂 I’m not the hugest covergirl fan either, but I recommend their Full Lash Bloom mascara. It gives the “your eyelashes, but better” look. It darkens lashes and adds some more fullness once you put on a couple of coats, and my favorite part about it is that it does that without making your lashes crusty. They stay nice and soft. I also feel like it’s gentler on my lashes than some of the more intense mascaras I’ve used. It’s nice for those days you’re going for a more natural look or want your eyeshaow to really shine through (while also still looking like you have lashes, I’m always scared of my self in that time between when I’ve done my eye shadow and when I put on my mascara). Anyways, I was excited to hear about your 2015 favorites 🙂
Hi Megan!
I will definitely check out that mascara. The wand reminds me of the Benefit They’re Real! mascara and that is one of my favorites. I also want to try out the Super Sizer mascara.

I adore Naked Skin foundation! Beyond worth the $40
Hi!
It’s my second bottle and it is well worth the price tag. It hurts my wallet, but my skin thanks me!
