#FOTD: Glittery Red Lips

11/16/2015

I’ve been on a glitter and red kick lately. My nails have been red and glittery and now my lips and eyes are red and full of glitter.

While I love to wear dark lip colors in the fall and winter, my wardrobe has been too dark to warrant an all black/dark purple/dark blue look. So I opted for a red lip to compliment my dark outfit and eyeliner.

My lips are OCC Lip Tar in Black Metal Dahlia. It’s an amazing glittery blackened red. While the original Black Dahlia is more red-purple, the metallic version is more red. The glitter isn’t too apparent on camera, but in person the glitter is sparkly and in your face. I usually don’t like shimmer or glitter in my lipstick, but the way that OCC does their metallic lip tars makes the lipstick look alive, not frosty and dated.

For my eyes, I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I didn’t want a strong eye because I wanted the focus to be on my lips. I applied Naked 2 and Buck in the crease and put Walk of Shame on the lid. I also smudged Naked 2 and Buck under my lash line. Venus highlights my inner corner and under my brow. I used the Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner to create my wing. On the bottom of the wing, I used the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Gunmetal. The silver and black glitters compliment the wing and the sparkles in the red lipstick. I finished off with two coats of the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Big Eyes mascara on my top and lower lashes.

OCC Lip Tars can be annoying to apply since you need a lip brush, but the company recently released a “ready to wear” version that has the same product but in a lip gloss tube, making it waaaay easier to apply it on the go. If I hadn’t already owned 12 shades in the pro packaging, I would buy them all in the RTW container!

Have you tried OCC Lip Tar? Are you more willing to try them now that they come in a on-the-go friendly package?
